課程概述 |
This course introduces students to important cultural texts and ways to engage with these texts that lead to awareness of global issues related to race, class, and gender, etc. and development of critical thinking abilities. Another goal of the course is to help students improve academic listening ability and presentation skills. A textbook will be used for this component of the course. The medium of instruction for this course is English. |

Upon completion of the course, students should demonstrate improvement in these areas:
 Confidence in all four language areas and strategies for further development.
 Ability to read print and audiovisual texts with critical awareness.
 Ability to write with meaningful content and logical organization. |

課程要求 |
1. Conscientious preparation, punctual attendance, and active participation are essential for your learning and your grade. Preparation involves, but is not limited to, printing out and bringing to class relevant materials for a particular class session.
2. Assignments will be announced in class and are due on the designated date. Failure to submit ANY assignment on time as required will result in a very low grade. You will be asked to re-do an assignment if it is not deemed satisfactory by the instructor.
3. PLAGIARISM and cheating will not be tolerated. Plagiarism is globally recognized as a serious academic offense and will result in your failing the course and receive disciplinary measures following university regulations. Cheating will also result in a grade of zero for this course as well as university disciplinary measures.
4. We will make use of the university e-learning platform. It is your responsibility to have an active email account and to ensure smooth communication with the instructor.
5. There will be NO make-up midterm or final exams or for any other missed course work. |
